Wellness
Exams
The key to giving your pet the optimum level of care is realizing theyre
not just pets;
theyre individuals and they need to be treated as such.
Most healthy animals require annual wellness exams,
although as your pet ages it may benefit from twice yearly wellness exams.
Our care is based on life stage (young, adult, or senior), lifestyle
(i.e. How much time the pet is indoors or outdoors, amount of contact
with other animals, level of exercise, etc.),
and risk of exposure to infectious diseases, which often hinges on environment.
Through regular wellness exams, a customized health program can be set
up for you and your pet.
Our wellness examination includes a general analysis of your pet's physical
condition
including skin, ears, eyes, heart, lungs, teeth, weight, and overall appearance.
Vaccinations
Vaccination is an important part of your pet's good health. Since every
pet's lifestyle is different,
what your pet needs will be based on legal requirements, risk of exposure,
and your concerns.
Pharmacy
For your pet's safety, the shortest delay in starting treatment, and your
convenience,
we provide most medications via our office pharmacy.

Laboratory
We provide a full range of in-hospital diagnostic testing.
Our blood chemistry analyzer enables us to evaluate your pet's internal
organ and thyroid function.
We often have results to you in the same day.
We utilize diagnostic laboratories for specialty tests that we are unable
to run in our laboratory.
Radiology
Our on-site x-ray equipment allows us to utilize x-rays as
an aid in diagnosing many disorders.
Equipped with a high quality x-ray machine and automatic processor,
we are able to take radiographs of your pet and have them available within
minutes.
Ultrasound
A diagnostic tool for non-invasive, non-painful scanning of the body systems.
This tool allows us to evaluate the architecture of internal organs including
the liver, kidney, spleen, gallbladder,
urinarybladder, prostate as well as evaluation of the heart and heart
functions (echocardiography).
Many organs that are difficult to see on plain film radiographs (prostate)
can be easily seen with ultrasound.
Ultrasound scanning has been used to diagnose many disease processes in
small animals.
The typical ultrasound examination requires no tranquilization or anesthesia
and is easily performed on awake animals.
Prior fasting or water withholding is not required.

Anesthesia
We take pride in our individualized anesthetic protocols, tailored to
your pet's specific medical needs.
We maintain a balanced anesthesia, offering pain control with the anesthetic
medications.
Your pet's safety and well-being is of utmost importance to us.
We utilize the safest anesthetic drugs and protocols.
Surgery
All our surgeries are performed utilizing gas anesthesia.
Our surgical packs and instruments are completely sterilized prior to
every surgery and a new pack is used in every patient. We also maintain
sterile technique by scrubbing our hands and utilizing donning masks and
sterile gloves.
We are strong advocates of prevention and management of pain and we use
a wide range of agents
and techniques to provide pain relief for our patients.

Our surgical
monitoring equipment is used on every surgery.
It provides information on blood pressure, heart rate, ECG, ocygen saturation
and body temperature.
Hospital
Care
When hospitalized care is needed,
every effort is made to make our patients as comfortable as possible while
they are with us.
Comfortable and warm recovery accommodations, gentle human interactions,
and specialized nutrition are a few of the ways that we give special care
to your pet.
When approved by your pet's veterinarian, in-hospital visitation can be
arranged so your family
can aid in the recovery of your pet. We believe that family support helps
greatly during the recovery process.
Our team members understand that their positive attitudes can make all
the difference when a patient is recovering.
All of our team members take pride in being a part of the recovery process
of your pet.
Emergency
Service
We pride ourself on providing you and your pet state-of-the-art emergency,
critical and intensive care medicine and surgery.
Each patient presenting on emergency will be thoroughly examined
to determine if there are any life-threatening conditions present.
As detailed an assessment as possible will be provided to the pet owner
or agent
as to the patients condition and initial proposed management plan.
If necessary, the patient will then be stabilized to prevent further condition
compromise or progression;
this may include placing intravenous (IV) catheters, administering IV
fluids, blood or plasma transfusions,
pain medications and/or sedatives/tranquilizers, other specific medications,
and oxygen therapy.
The hospital is equipped with an in-house laboratory that provides rapid
turn-around of results
of blood tests and other fluids, and also has on-site high quality diagnostic
imaging (radiology and ultrasound).

Dental
Care
Dental health is extremely important in animals.
Proper dental care of your pet can increase your pet's quality of life
by giving him/her four more good years.
Bacteria from the teeth and gums will enter the bloodstream of your pet
and can then cause internal infections of the lungs, kidneys, heart, and
liver.
This bacteria can also affect your pet's nervous system.
These infections are usually treatable when caught early
but can still cause serious damage to the affected organs even if caught
early.
If left untreated the bacteria can lead to death.
It is for this reason that as part of your pet's normal wellness exam,
the veterinarian may prescribe additional dental care for your pet.
Just as humans need a tooth cleaning once or twice a year for a healthy
mouth, Fluffy does too.
Our dental cleaning involves ultrasonic dental scaling on the tooth surface
and under the gum line
and polishing to make the surface of the tooth smooth.
